Blogovision 2018: Στο #7 του Γεράσιμου, Thou – Magus

Funck is thinking about identity — "the sacred ego, that wellspring of individuality and unique complexity," as written in the album's dedication — and how it can both inspire progress and, reflexively, instill group think fear with "the militancy of extremity, the beneficence of untempered ideology, or the divinity of cherished relationships." He warns of "masculine virtue" ("Sovereign Self") and the "misogyny-fueled fever dream" ("Elimination Rhetoric") that brings ruin to humanity. He confronts the void of dark thought ("Inward") as "In the Kingdom of Meaning" fights the urge to give up: "We have sung our anthems of pain / We refuse to exist in our despair / We will find inner sanctum / And so shall we prevail."
"One of my favorite things in Thou is to pick a real extreme point and just hammer away at that, and then pick the other extreme and tear apart whatever I wrote in the previous song," Funck says. "I really like to self-analyze and be as self-critical as I can. I think that's important to a person's individual development."
At this point, Thou's heft is a known, bruising quantity. You come to Thou with expectations of Godzilla-level riffs and incremental subversion of form, but Magus is truly massive — not just in its caustic melancholy, but in how Thou examines the self as a means of transformation. (npr.org)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #8 μου Trip Hop από την Κοπεγχάγη

Εκτός concept αλλά πόσο ν'αντέξει κανείς σε αυτό το θέαμα στο πιο τρίο της χρονιάς;

Στο All The Same Dream ο φευγάτος instrumental κόσμος των ΚΥΟ συναντά την μαύρη ψυχή του Jeuru για να δημιουργήσουν τον πιο αισθησιακό, σέξυ και ερωτεύεσαι και τη γάτα που περνάει από δίπλα σου δίσκο της χρονιάς.

Blogovision 2018: Στο #8 του Γεράσιμου, Chris Carter – Chemistry Lessons Volume 1

Chemistry Lessons Volume 1 is a record that offers an overture of the history of electronic music, something that Carter has helped shape. In this instance the artist explores all the different aspects of this sound, presenting an overarching work and condensing these in short forms. The process works perfectly and the movements from the dark, minimal realm of "Ars Vetus" all the way to the dance moments of the opening track, via the noir-esque labyrinth of "Modularity" and the sci-fi induced movements of "Lab Test", does not seize to amaze. Blogovision 2018: Στο #9 μου, grime hip hop κι ένα Aνάποδο Kαπέλο από τη Θεσσαλονίκη

Blogovision 2018:Στο #9 του Γεράσιμου, Throw Down Bones – Two

Two was recently released on Fuzz Club Records and see’s the band deal in floor-shaking industrial, EBM inspired noise that’s steeped in a euphoric acid-house attitude. Where the old Throw Down Bones was better suited for intimate venues and psych fests (of which they were a frequent staple, from Liverpool to Eindhoven and everywhere in between), this new evolution sees them turn their eyes to the most underground techno clubs and the sleaziest warehouse venues. For them, their corrosive industrial workouts are simply the product of their environment and attitudes, as opposed to who they’re listening to at any given moment. (backseatmafia.com)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #10 μου, βιβλικό industrial techno έπος. Made in Germany

Blogovision 2018: Στο #10 του Γεράσιμου, Sumac και Love in Shadow

Nothing on Love In Shadow resembles a single in the slightest, nor have any of Sumac’s past compositions. Yet each of the four tracks is a standout in its own way, a piece of heavy art that feels self-contained yet contributes to an even more awe-inspiring whole. The most immediate of these is “Attis’ Blade the track that served as the de facto single by default of being the only pre-release track from the album. It’s also one that the band’s been playing live for a while, having made the setlist of many of the shows during their winter tour with Converge. It’s a tour de force, opening with a galloping rumble that signals this is going to be something intense and remarkable. It balances groove and shriek, noise-rock freakout and haunting, bluesy riffs. And by the end, those riffs echo against a spacious backdrop that serves as a reminder that this music, however torturous the path or however thunderous the roar, does indeed harbor a grace within it. It’s not a kind of beauty that comes easy, but it’s most certainly there to be found for those with the patience to let it reveal itself. (treblezine.com)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #11 μου, ένα Love Story σε Drone αφήγηση Made in Canada

Στα επικίνδυνα σύνορα ανάμεσα στο post rock, το psych και το experimental, με θλιμμένα φωνητικά και σαν από τα χέρια των Sunn O)))  - ως ερωτευμένων σε απόρριψη εφήβων - πλασμένο, το Pissing Stars του Efrim Manuel Menuck, των Godspeed You!

Blogovision 2018: Στο #11 του Γεράσιμου, Ancient Methods - The Jericho Records

The Battle Of Jericho, as described in the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament, is the album's central theme. The trombones here stand in for the Shofars, or ram's horns, used by the Israelite army to raze the city's walls (or so the story goes). Biblical references are starting points from which Wollenhaupt and a number of collaborators—including Regis, Orphx and Prurient—create vivid compositions. The LP's narrative is laid down in three parts, or "chapters," bookended by a prologue ("Walls") and epilogue ("In Silence").

The LP oscillates mostly between intense club fare—"Twelve Stones To Divide Jordan's Sand," "Array The Troops"—and pensive passages like "The City Awakes," whose ambient intro includes the sound of clopping hooves. This constant flux lends The Jericho Records a dynamism and a sense that anything can happen next. Occasionally, The Jericho Records gets a bit too literal. The melodising of clashing and swiping blades on "Swordplay," for example, is a bit on the nose. But you could also see this as one of Wollenhaupt's strengths: his ability to translate abstract ideas into clear sonic images is what makes The Jericho Records so impressive. (residentadvisor.net)

Το Death in Haiti ανακάλυψα μια μέρα στο Bastard Vinyl .

Ο πλήρης τίτλος του δίσκου είναι Death in Haiti: Funeral Brass Bands & Sounds from Port au Prince  και ο καλλιτέχνης που τόλμησε αυτό το πόνημα είναι ο Félix Blume.

Blogovision 2018: Στο #12 του Γεράσιμου, Uniform - The Long Walk

From the opening whirr of the title track, it’s clear that the band is onto something special. Recorded in Strange Weather studios in the first part of 2018, The Long Walk is eight new tracks by the duo of Greenberg and Berdan, incorporating Fox’s skills behind the drum kit to add an entirely new dimension to the signature Uniform sound. Ditching sequenced tracks, Greenberg opted for single takes to highlight the Frankenstein-like guitar-bass-synth hybrid that oozes throughout the recording. Meanwhile, crushing guitar thunder is punched up by Fox’s masterful drumming while Berdan’s cries from the nether feel more desperate and morose than ever. This is Uniform at its most bleak, emotional, and powerful.  (sacredbonesrecords.com)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #13 του Γεράσιμου Terence Fixmer – Through the Cortex

Through The Cortex comes during a fruitful period of Fixmer's career. The best tracks showed a new range of the producer's creative possibility. "Dance With Comets," for example, is bloodthirsty like EBM but heady like techno, built around a violent synth sequence that causes insanity. This kind of energy and inventiveness characterizes Fixmer's recent club records. And overall, they're simply more exciting than what's here. Through The Cortex sets out with different intentions—less drums, more synths—which results in a classy album. If only it had more attitude. After all, Fixmer's most memorable music is the kind that shouts through the noise. (residentadvisor.net)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #14 μου neo- classical αυτοσχεδιασμοί και experimental ambient MADE IN USA

Blogovision 2018: Στο #14 του Γεράσιμου, Anna von Hausswolff – Dead Μagic

But the real wonder and power of Dead Magic, taken as a whole, is not how Anna von Hausswolff taps into themes associated with darkness and decay, nor even that she pauses over them for long periods – and certainly in this vein a partial musical lineage may be traced back to experimental rock and post-rock like Swans and to doom metal like Skepticism and Earth – but it is that she is equally adept at finding beauty where beauty is rare. Dead Magic goes into to dark places but also offers paths out of the darkness.(popmatters.com)

Blogovision 2018: Στο #15 μου Avant- garde Drama Music από το Montréal

Avant - Garde Drama μουσική για το soundtrack της σειράς FIRST της HULU από τον Colin Stetson.

Blogovision 2018: Στο #15 του Γεράσιμου Rhys Fulber - Your Dystopia, My Utopia

Rhys Fulber pulls all the stops on Your Dystopia, My Utopia, crafting a sonic landscape whereupon the detritus of fallen civilizations gives rise to an uncertain technological future. One can hear the history of EBM, techno, and rhythmic industrial laid out across the album’s nine tracks, which is unsurprising given Fulber’s significance in it. As such, Your Dystopia, My Utopia is far from a groundbreaking effort, but coming from such a pioneering and creative force as Rhys Fulber, does it need to be? No… this the sound of a man absolutely in his element, making the album a monument of stylistic integrity and artistic purity.

Το Broken Limbs Excite No Pity του Bruce Lamont
